Route 10

Rauðhóll

A trail marked with posts leads from the Eysteinsdalur road to Rauðhóll. The source of the Presthraun lava field which flowed into the sea between Hellisandur and Skarðsvík. The trail to Rauðhóll is 1km each way. An interesting alternative follows the Móðulækur stream where there are potholes. Lava channels lead from Rauðhóll down to charming, reedy ponds.
