Guided Events 2024
In Snæfellsjökull National Park, park rangers offer daily educational walks and children’s activities from June 15 to August 31, 2024. Additionally, there are weekly special walks every Wednesday in July and August. The walks are generally easy and suitable for all ages. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Children's activites
Every Thursday at the National Park Center in Hellissandi.
Time: 11:00 am
Duration: 45 minutes
Fun educational session and games for all children.
Daily walks
Guided walk with Park ranger.
Búðir
Every Monday at 1:00 PM, a park ranger meets visitors at the parking lot by Búðakirkja.
Duration: 1 – 1.5 hours
Walk with rangers from Búðakirkja to Frambúðir.
Malarrif
Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1:00pm the ranger meets guests at the Visitor Center in Malarrifi.
Duration: 1 – 1.5 hours
Walk with a ranger from the Guest House in Malarrifi to Svalthúfa.
Weekly events
Special weekly events with a park ranger every Wednesday in July and August.
All events start at 11:00am. 11:00.
July 3rd: Arnarstapi – Hellnar
Join a Ranger to learn about the history and nature of the area. Meet at the parking lot at the port of Arnarstapa.
The walk takes about 1.5 hours.
July 10th: Sandhólar – Djúpalón – Dritvík
Visitors meet a ranger at the parking lot at Sandhóla and walk to Dritvík.
The walk takes about 2 hours.
July 17th: Bird Watching at Svalþúfa
Description: A ranger will help identify birds and educate about their behavior. It’s good to bring binoculars, but the ranger will have some to share. Accessible for wheelchairs.
Visitors can join anytime between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM at Svalþúfa.
July 24th: Hreggnasi
Meeting point: Intersection of Útnesvegur and Eysteinsdalsvegur, walking to the footbridge over Móðulæk at the mouth of Eysteinsdalur.
The walk takes about 2 hours.
July 31st: International Ranger Day
Description: Walk towards Lóndrangar with rangers sharing insights about their work in Iceland and worldwide.

August 7th: Eyrahringur
Description: Walk around Eyra and Lambhagatjarnir with a ranger, exploring diverse wildlife and cultural heritage.
The walk takes about 1.5-2 hours
August 14th: Öndverðarnes – Grashólshellir – Vatnsborg
Description: Walk through Neshraun and learn about the geology of the area. It’s a longer walk, so bring snacks and water.
Meeting point: Vatnsborg parking lot. The walk takes 3 hours.
August 21st: Coastal Days in Krossavík
Description: Fun educational walk for the whole family, learning about marine life and exploring tidal pools.

August 28th: Gufuskálar – Fiskbyrgi
Description: Walk around Gufuskálar and up to Fiskbyrgi, learning about the area’s history and the relationship between people and the sea.
Meeting point: Ískrabrunn. The walk takes about 2 hours.
