In Búðahraun you can find some of the most beautiful vegetation in Iceland. In ancient manuscripts, Búðahraun is called Klettshraun, and the volcano in the middle of the lava field is called Búðaklettur (Búða cliff). In reality, Búðaklettur isn’t actually a cliff but an 88m high crater from which the lava flowed around 5000–8000 years ago.
A hiking trail leads to Frambúðir, where the spirit of the past lives with in the moss-grown ancient relics. From the church, it is a 30 minute walk to Frambúðir.
There is a hiking trail from the Búðir nature reserve along the coast to Arnarstapi. The walk takes 6-8 hours.
