Raising Awareness for Climate Change and Landscape Heritage

A hands-on workshop exploring how climate change affects Snæfellsnes through a short presentation and interactive group activities.

This workshop explores how climate change is affecting heritage in Snæfellsnes. Together, we will discuss how local traditions, knowledge, and landscapes are changing, and what these changes might mean for the future.

The workshop includes a short presentation introducing climate change and biocultural heritage, followed by a series of interactive group activities. Together, we will identify examples of biocultural heritage in Snæfellsnes and discuss the challenges and opportunities they face. We will finish with a creative activity imagining what we hope future generations will still be able to experience and value 30 years from now.

This workshop is an opportunity to learn about biocultural heritage, share your knowledge and experiences, and explore possible futures together. The activities are designed to encourage discussion and reflection, and no previous knowledge is needed - everyone is welcome to take part.

Samantha Tobiás, PhD student at University College Dublin in Ireland, is organizing the event with the National Park Snæfellsnes. Samantha visited Snæfellsnes last winter to interview people from the local community, including farmers, fishers, archaeologists, and many eider down collectors.
