Cross the footbridge over the Móðulækur stream. An easy walk through the lava leads to the beautiful Saxhóll crater, which erupted 3-4000 years ago. Keep to the steps that lie to the lip of the crater to avoid damaging this sensitive environment.
There are magnificent views and a compass rose at the top. Return by the same route.
