Ongoing Construction Work in the National Park

Construction work is currently taking place at Saxhóll and along the Öndverðarnes Road.

Saxhóll

Work on the lower area at Saxhóll is being completed. The construction area will be closed over the next few days. Visitors are welcome to walk up Saxhóll, but we kindly ask everyone to be mindful of the ongoing work.

Öndverðarnes Road

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration has begun maintenance work on the road, which will continue until 8 July. As a result, the road is closed daily from 08:00 to 19:00, effective from yesterday. The road is open to traffic between 19:00 and 08:00, with access to Skarðsvík.
