In preparation for the 2026 solar eclipse on Snæfellsnes, considerable effort was put into preparing Snæfellsjökull National Park as thoroughly as possible for the event, as a large number of visitors were expected to come to the peninsula.

Countless hours of work went into the preparations, involving staff at Snæfellsjökull National Park and the Icelandic Nature Conservation Agency, as well as numerous other partners. Everything went better than expected, and Snæfellsjökull National Park would like to express its sincere thanks to:

• Snæfellsbær Municipality, Íslenska gámafélagið, Kubb, the search and rescue teams, the police and the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration.

• The Icelandic Space Agency and the many scientists who were working here.

• All the park rangers and volunteers who worked in the national park and helped ensure that the many visitors who came to the area could enjoy nature safely and responsibly.
