NOTICE: Road Closure on Dritv\u00edkurvegur that lead to Dj\u00fapal\u00f3nssandur due to Construction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to construction work, Dritv\u00edkurvegur will be closed to all traffic from \u00datnesvegur to Dj\u00fapal\u00f3nssandur between May 28 and June 20, 2025<\/strong>. The road down to Dj\u00fapal\u00f3nssandur will be closed for all traffic during this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vermannalei\u00f0 Hiking Trail<\/strong>
A scenic but challenging trail for experienced hikers, approximately 3 km in length, from the upper parking lot on Dritv\u00edkurvegur down to Dritv\u00edk. The trail passes through rough lava fields and takes about 1.5 hours each way. From Dritv\u00edk, it\u2019s about a 20-minute (1 km) walk over to Dj\u00fapal\u00f3nssandur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
