The beach has beautiful and peculiar rock formations and cliffs that have been shaped by the surf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skerries and cliffs are teeming with bird life from spring to autumn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/snaefellsjokull.vinnugrunnur.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/DSC09876-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2488\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hellnahraun is a lava field that extends between Arnarstapi and Hellnar. It flowed approximately 4000 years ago from a crater near J\u00f6kulh\u00e1ls which is now covered by the glacier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 2km hiking trail runs through the lava field between Arnarstapi and Hellnar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/snaefellsjokull.vinnugrunnur.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/DSC09901-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2492\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Arnarstapi or Stapi, as the settlement was often called, was a market town and a seaport.
